چکیده

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borneAlphavirus that causes fever (CHIKF) in humans. In 1952, the CHIKV was found East Africa sylvatic and urban cycle between Aedes mosquitoes, human nonhuman primates tropical regions. Since 2004, CHIKF has spread rapidly Asia, Africa, Europe, Americas. Both aegypti albopictus are known to be arboviral mosquito vectors of CHIKV. Ae. mostly within tropics, whereby also occurs temperate cold Host-seeking female mosquitoes infected after feeding on viremic animal. The replication happens midgut then enters hemocoel before disseminating salivary glands mosquito. disseminated can transmitted by injecting infectious saliva into host skin during blood feeding. naïve body, replicates dermal fibroblasts through circulation, disseminates other parts body such as brain cells, kidney, heart, lymphoid tissues, liver, joints. Symptoms infection include high fever, rigors, headache, photophobia, maculopapular rash. It advised avoid bites; also, larvae management systems should applied endemic environments.

Suramin Inhibits Chikungunya Virus Entry and Transmission

The mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a profound global threat due to its high rate of contagion and the lack of vaccine or effective treatment. Suramin is a symmetric polyanionic naphthylurea that is widely used in the clinical treatment of parasite infections. Numerous studies have reported the broad antiviral activities of suramin; however, inhibition effects against CHIKV have not...

Spatial and Temporal Clustering of Chikungunya Virus Transmission in Dominica

Using geo-referenced case data, we present spatial and spatio-temporal cluster analyses of the early spread of the 2013-2015 chikungunya virus (CHIKV) in Dominica, an island in the Caribbean. Spatial coordinates of the locations of the first 417 reported cases observed between December 15th, 2013 and March 11th, 2014, were captured using the Global Positioning System (GPS). We observed a prepon...

[Vertical transmission of chikungunya virus infection. Case Report].

Chikungunya virus infection is a disease transmitted by vectors, in which vertical transmission was described in years 2005-2006. An infection rate up to 49% in neonates born from mothers with active viremia during labor has been observed. Perinatal infection could results in serious complications and potential cognitive impairment. OBJECTIVE To describe a newborn with Chikungunya virus infec...

Chikungunya Virus, Southeastern France

In September 2010, autochthonous transmission of chikungunya virus was recorded in southeastern France, where the Aedes albopictus mosquito vector is present. Sequence analysis of the viral genomes of imported and autochthonous isolates indicated new features for the potential emergence and spread of the virus in Europe.
